Soon we will gather in San Antonio for the 10th Annual TWI Summit and the 6th Annual Lean HR Summit. We’ll again have nearly 200 of of us gathered to explore how best to align and empower people in our organizations.

This page is meant to orient you to your Summit experience, with a few tips to maximize your time. Check back often as we’ll update this page as new information becomes available (and it will). Until we meet… safe travels to San Antonio!

REGISTRATION LOCATION

Where will you go in the morning?! Guadeloupe! If you take the escalators from the lobby OR the elevators to the Ballroom Level, you’ll find the TWI/HR Registration Desk in the Los Rios Foyer, next to the Guadeloupe meeting room. If you start there, we’ll orient you to breakfast and workshop locations.

REGISTRATION

WEDNESDAY
Morning: Pre-Summit workshop participants 7:00AM – 8:00AM
Afternoon: Early Registration for Summit participants 2:00PM – 5:00PM

THURSDAY
Morning: Normal Registration 7:30AM – 8:30AM

TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT

Depending on your needs, you might consider taking a taxi to and from the airport. You can expect to pay around $25 each way.  An interesting and useful way to price shop is http://www.shuttlefare.com/.

If you rent a car, overnight valet at the venue (with in and out privileges) is $37 and overnight self parking is $27.

FINDING THE SUMMIT

The Summit is being held at the San Antonio Hyatt Riverwalk.  Once you arrive and get situated in your room come explore the meeting space.  We are located on the 2nd floor (Ballroom Level).  There are two ways to get to our meeting space…

  • You can go up the escalators near the hotel check-in desks
  • You can take the elevators to the Ballroom Level

WHAT TO WEAR

Most Summit participants will dress business casual. Consider bringing a light jacket or sweater as conference room temperatures are notoriously difficult to control. Bring some comfortable walking shoes so you can get out and enjoy the Riverwalk at night!

BREAKOUT SESSION ATTENDANCE

You were not asked to commit to breakout sessions or tracks when you registered. This is so you can jump in and out of sessions as you see fit. Your needs will change as you attend sessions, so this allows you the freedom to change your plans on the fly. We also encourage you to jump from a TWI Summit presentation to a Lean HR Summit presentation. It’s part of the benefit of co-located Summits!

WEDNESDAY WORKSHOP PARTICIPATION:
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

Breakfast and lunch are provided for workshop participants on Wednesday. Breakfast will be served from 7AM-8AM. Come down early and spend some time getting to know fellow workshop participants. If you arrive for the Summit on Wednesday but are not participating in a workshop, you are encouraged to take advantage of the many dining options that San Antonio/Riverwalk has to offer.

ENJOYING THE AREA

On my (Amanda) visit to San Antonio 2 weeks ago I was reminded of why we chose this location for this year’s Summits. The Riverwalk is a beautifully landscaped, serene environment, with many outstanding dining options as well as things to do for those staying here.  During my stay I took a boat tour up and down the Riverwalk area which was very enjoyable!  I encourage you to do it if you have a spare 45 minutes one evening.  www.riosanantonio.com

San Antonio Weather

Highs in the mid 80’s to lower 90’s with overnight lows in the mid 60’s…!  Basically, perfect!
